ASIAN BEACH GAME

The Asian Beach Games is a multi-sport event held every two years among athletes representing countries from Asia. The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia. The Asian Beach Games celebrate cooperation and unity despite differences. Athletes from a wide variety of nations are able to travel, meet new people, and bring back memories about the rest of the world to their home nations. The Asian Beach Games forge unity and friendship between their member nations by joining athletes, trainers, and officials together.

The 1st Asian Beach Games is schedule to begin in 2008 in Bali, Indonesia which includes non-Olympic, beach-oriented sports such as Surfing, Windsurfing, Sailing, Dragon Boat, Beach Volleyball, Beach Takraw, Beach Handball, Beach Soccer, Bodybuilding, Jet Skiing, Triathlon Marathon Swimming, Parasailing and Wood Ball.

Member nations with plentiful seashore are invited to host future Asian Beach Games. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), the highest governing body of sports in Asia, has awarded the right to Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI) to host the 1st Asian Beach Games in Bali in October 2008.

Many international beach sporting events are organized every year in Bali. But games like the Asian Beach Games, requires a specific plan with concentrated efforts involving various governmental and non-governmental sector for its success. To steer these diversified activities, the Bali Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (BABGOC) was formed on Mar 2006. BABGOC under the patronage of the Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI) and the city of Bali, in close cooperation with the Indonesian Government, is working diligently to meet the preparation schedules and also to stage and operate a sustainable Asian Beach Games, leading to a long-term legacy.
